Chalkhead Mentalities
If you’ve been following Glenn Greenwald, you don’t need to read this, but if you haven’t, it’s a must-read. Beginning with Eisenhower’s warnings about the military industrial complex to the Bush Administration’s admittance to phone-tapping (when Greenwald started blogging) to the current anti-Wikileaks campaign, through the present-day campaigns against Wikileaks, Glennzilla traces frightening trends that I’m disappointed more people aren’t talking about. I would like to highlight a few points that Glenn made:

Cones, Got Yer Cones
I had a larger cone in my bedroom as a kid for years. I have no idea where it came from other than I know I brought it home one day because it was in the middle of nowhere guarding nothing. It was used as a tee for T-ball sometimes and the top was cracked. I still remember looking at the cone and wondering how to get rid of it. Someone threw it out eventually but it wasn’t me. Probably Mom. I have stuff like cones now that I should throw out.
Can’t Argue With the Kids
Sounds good.

The Building Bridge
I was on my way to a career fair when I took this. Recent events in Japan made me wonder if an earthquake would ever hit New York. That would be messed up with all the brick buildings and stuff like this probably crashing down. On the other hand, maybe structures like this help hold buildings up.
Working the WFMU Pledge Marathon
I’m in the WFMU studios in Jersey City working the phones for the pledge marathon. Support freeform public radio! They only do this once a year folks! Pictured are Dave and Dominic and Trouble is in the DJ booth.
Now That I’m Not Famous
Photobucket has removed all of its upload buttons. Your mileage may vary. Why do I even deal with photobucket? You might as well ask a 70s movie director why they dealt with anything.

Fire on 109th Street
This happened on January 2nd of this year. It was a while since I last emptied out the photos from my camera. The fire was out within 20 minutes and it looks like damage was mostly limited to one or two rooms. Here’s to NYC’s Bravest!
On another note, I setup a friend’s new business with a WordPress website. (So far, we’re using the default theme design but we’ll be doing a redesign at some point.) If you need a dog walker or a cat sitter in Essex County, New Jersey, check out 4 Paws Pet Services!
Snows of 2010 and 2011
Just in time for 60° F. weather on Friday and probably the last melting of New York’s winter (fingers crossed), here’s a gallery of night snow images. None are particularly great but you get the idea. Obviously, the most dramatic are the first batch from post-Christmas blizzard. Despite some glitches, New York continued to function fairly well after around 57 inches fell this season. I think I got the dates right for the others but the date stamp on my camera got messed up after the batteries died at one point.
Getting Artsy Again
My photos were accepted for an exhibit at SIP! It won’t be until the summer sometime. Stay tuned! Also, I edited many 2010-2011 night snow photos down into a gallery which I’ll upload probably later today. I have been having tech problems with my Canon and Mac OSX! Nothing new I find out.
